On Saturday 28th June Subversion checked out Euthanasia, the debut of a metal burlesque night, at the Luminaire in Kilburn. As a concept, a burlesque night alongside metal bands had not been done before, it was an interesting twist moving away from traditional burlesque but it seemed to work.

The music was quite stereotypical of standard metal although we were quite surprised with the crowd that attended. There weren't many metallers in the audience and there were few burlesque-types; despite this as the night progressed the audience seemed to be enjoying the bands, Media, Mordachi, Honour Amoung, and the dancers, Kitty's Dolls, this heightened the atmosphere of the evening.

The venue was fairly small but fitting with the event. The Luminaire is in walking distance from Kilburn tube station, although a few people who we spoke to weren't in attendance because of the location.

The host, Debra Decay, seemed to be enjoying the night and was pleased with it's turn out. The performers gave their best efforts at mixing metal with burlesque, during Mordachi's last track two of the dancers came onto the stage which inlinked the performances well. Drinks were of a standard prices and at £6 on the door, Euthanasia provided a unique twist to a burlesque event.
